Just Buggin Card Challenge

The challenge this week on Just Buggin is to use the creative card feature that is available on many cartridges. Many cartridges have this feature the allows you to cut a card with an image cut out of the middle. I always seem to forget about this, but it is a great way to make a quick and easy card. I used the card feature on Life's a Beach to cut this card with the whale image in

the middle of it. I always associate whales with pink and green probably from my middle school preppy days, so that's the color scheme I used on this card. I cut the card twice and then cut the whale part out of the second card and layered it on top of the first one. The sentiment get whale soon was cut from Don Juan and welded together. I also gave the whale a little band aid that I cut from the Indie Art cartridge. I finished it off with some pink and white ribbon and a little rose. Snow Dog

We had a blizzard here on Christmas Eve and my daughter and the dog just couldn't resist getting outside and playing in all the snow.  It turns out Dingo is a real snow dog.  The Just Buggin challenge this week is to make a project that has something to do with pets, so I figured this was a perfect time to actually make a layout using some of the pictures I took of them playing in the snow.  It's been a long time since I actually made a

layout.  I used Coredinations cardstock for my base and cut some Bazzil swiss dots paper for the reddish strip across the top.  The patterned paper I used is Basic Grey and I think it is from the fruitcake collection.  It's either fruitcake or figgy pudding.  I cut the dog from Paper Pups and added a little snow hat from Everyday Paper Dolls and covered her with some polar white flower soft to make her look like Dingo looks in the picture.  She was almost white when she came in from playing.  I cut the Snow Dog title from Don Juan and welded it together.  I substituted paw prints for the o's.  Well, it feels good to make a layout.  Even if it is only one page, picture were printed and put on paper- that's a big first step!!!!

I made this card for the just buggin challenge- sew it. I'm not an experienced sewer (is that a word) so, this one was a little tough. I took some paper, 2 pieces of plaid and 2 solid pieces that I embossed with my cuttlebug and taped them down to a piece of cardstock, then I sewed around the edge of the card and the seams were the different pieces matched up. I think it's easier to

sew when the pieces are actually already adhered rather than try to actually sew them on. Then I cut the fleur de lis from Don Juan using the stitched feature. After it was cut, I went back and poked through all the holes with my paper piercer to make them a little larger. I sewed through the holes with some embroidery floss. The only needle I could find was for thread, so I could only

use I strand of the floss. It would probably look better with more strands. The Eiffel Tower I used is from the Destinations cartridge and the sentiment- Merci is from Beyond Birthdays. I embossed the Eiffel Tower in my cuttlebug with the Swiss Dots folder.
