Think Pink.

October is breast cancer awareness month and you sure to see a lot of pink. We're honoring breast cancer with pink projects all month. I chose this cute image from La La Land Crafts that I've had forever and never inked up until now.

I colored Marci with my copic markers to match the colors in the Echo Park paper. The frame around the image is a nestabilitie and I sanded it to make the polka dots stand out more. I finished the card off with some silk flowers and a cutters creek gardenia. 

Remember to think pink this October and  protect yourself. 

Valentine's Day with Tilda

This week's Just Buggin Challenge was to use a stamp on your cricut project.  Well, that is perfect for me.  Stamping and my cricut are my two favorite things.  In the words of Hannah Montana, "It's the best of both worlds".  So, here is my project.  I cut the base for the card itself from A Child's Year.  That cartridge is full of great card shapes as well as a bunch of fun images.  The paper I used is the Basic Grey Eva collection.  I've had this paper forever and not used it, I finally broke it out and it's great! I also cut the little flower in the corner from my George cartridge.  I wanted them to have dimension, so I crinkled the top one a little and sprayed it with shimmerz spritz.  For the stamps, I used this adorable new Tilda that should be available soon.  She's not out yet, but when is available, be sure to check at stampingscrapping.com for a great price!  I colored her with Copic markers and added a little bit of stickles to her wings.  The sentiment is from the label accents set from scent with love.  They are made to coordinate perfectly with the matching nestabilities which is what I used to stamp it on.  The shape behind Tilda is actually the same nestie, just a larger size. 

Paper Piecing

Paper piecing is the new challenge at Scrappy Frog's Challenge. This is a really fun and easy technique to give your cards a little something special. Here are a few cards I have made using paper piecing. What you do is stamp you image on white paper, pick a design that you want to use in your image (smaller patterns work best), and stamp your image on the patterned paper


as well. Then you cut the part of the image out of the paper (on these two I cut out the dresses) and glue it to the corresponding part of the image you have stamped on the white paper. It is easiest to move the paper than to move your scissors, sharp small scissors work best, and I always cut toward the inside of the outline when I do it. So, get out some stamps, some paper, and your sharp scissors and give it a try. You can post your creation on Scrappy Frogs to try and win a 6 x 6 Basic Grey paper pad. Both of the cards I made were made with Basic Grey paper. It is my favorite.

Glitter Lace Tutorial

I learned this glitter lace technique at the Heirloom Stamp Show in Grapevine. It is really quick and simple and makes a big impact on your project. To start this technique, you will need some sticky labels, any size will work
k. I prefer to use the full sheet labels so that I can cut them to any size I want them to be. I die cut this label with a nestabilitie so that it would be in a fun shape for my card. Next, you will need 2 contrasting colors of glitter. I chose black and orange. Now for the fun part, pick your lace. I have this lace with a spider web pattern that is perfect for a Halloween project. While at the convention, we also got some lace with tiger stripes, swirls, flowers, and skulls and crossbones (of course).
If you lace has any shiny parts to it like the webs in this lace, stick your label to the other side. Lay you label with the sticky side on the lace and rub it in really good. Pay special attention to the edges.
Then, flip the lace over and cover with your first color of glitter. I used the black first.
Shake off the excess glitter and remove the label. This is what you will have. the majority of the label will be colored with the black glitter but the solid parts, in this case the webs, will be exposed and still sticky.
Dump the second color of glitter on and shake the excess off.
This will be your final result. Very sparkly, very cool, and very simple. Then you can take your label, apply adhesive and use it on your project.


I chose to use this piece on a Halloween card with an adorable Halloween Tilda stamp. I added some spiders that I cut on my cricut, some core'dinations cardstock embossed with the new Cuttlebug harlequin folder.

Fall and Halloween Cards

Even though it is still very much Summer time, I've decided to move on and get started on some Fall and Halloween cards. I call this first one Piece Out. The pumpkin pie is on the loose. The paper I used is from American Crafts and the brown nestabilitie shape is just the back side of the pattern. The pie is from the new set Happy Fall from Stamping Scrapping. I added a little bit

of liquid applique to make the whipped cream a little more puffy, some decorative buttons, and my favorite accessory- googly eyes. This next card is a little more traditional. I used the scarecrow from the Happy Fall set this time as well as the bushel of pumpkins. I made the leaf brad with my easy brad maker from Chatterbox by cutting out the little leaf from the stamp set with the punch from the brad maker kit. I also colored the brad with a dark brown copic to make it blend in a little more.

This is my Halloween card- Best Witches. This time I used the Best Witches set from stampingscrapping.com. This set is adorable for Halloween. I added the witch legs and hat to the pumpkin and popped them up off the card with foam dots. I also used my new drippy goo Martha Stewart punch for a little added border. I think it's perfect for a witch card.

Stamping Scrapping New Stamp Set Sneak Peek

Well, it's my turn to post my sneak peek project. I made this card using the snowman image. I actually decided to turn it into a snow woman complete with pink scarf, cap, mittens, and purse.

All of the snow woman's accessories are included in the stamp set along with accessories to make a snow man. I used Kaiser Craft pearls for her coal eyes, the button on her purse, and the knot of her scarf. I cut the sentiment out with my nestabilities and added it to the snowflake circle which was embossed on my Cuttlebug using the Core'dinations white wash paper. I finished the card off with some rhinestone snowflakes for a little extra bling!

More cards

I am having a lot of fun playing with these new stamps sets. This is my design team dream come true. This first card comes from the Cheers to You set. I used some cute pink polka dot paper for the card base and made this a 6 x 6 card. I took some of my new favorite core'dinations whitewash paper and embossed it with my cuttlebug then sanded it to show a little of the pink core. I colored the daiquiri with my copics and added the straw and the umbrella that are also included in the set. I paper pieced the umbrella to make it appear more realistic. The sentiment You're the Berry Best is also included in this set. I cut that with nestabilities and mounted it on a larger one. For a finishing touch, I added some strawberries, a gorgeous velvet petaloo flower and some fun zebra fringe ribbon.

Now, here is another coffee card. For this one, I used the How Ya Bean set for the cup, the steam, and the word coffee. The sentiment, it's a latte fun being friends with you is from the Java Happy Day set. A cool thing I used on this card is the Chatterbox Brad Maker. This is a cool little tool that comes with blank brads in 3 sizes and 3 different sized circle punches. I punched a circle out of the paper I was using on the project. I put it on the blank brad with the glue does that come in the set and then covered it with the little plastic dome so the paper is protected. Voila, a perfectly coordinated embellishment.

I have had so much fun playing with these new stamps. I love how they all work together and that I can use the card scents to make them smell as yummy as they look.

Black and Yellow

It's not just for taxi cabs and bumblees. The current challenge on Sugar Sweet Paper Treats is to create a project using yellow and black as the primary colors. I love this new little gorguss girl with the skull in her hair, she reminds me of Ainsleigh wearing her skull and crossbones headband all the time. I made another gate fold card out of yellow cardstock and covered it with

black and white paper. Then I cut a scallop circle nestie out of the same yellow cardstock and added a plain circle out of the whitewash core'dinations with a yellow core. I decided to give the gorguss girl a yellow dress and black and white tights. I was playing around the other day and colored a girl with pink hair to test my colored pencils. I started looking at it and realized I like the way it looked, so I gave this little girl hot pink hair. Finally, I cut a little bracket shape with my cricut and stamped a sentiment.

This card serves many many purposes (my favorite kind). It fits the magnolia-licious color challenge of blue, red, and pink, the just magnolia challenge to use paper piecing on a card, the roses on paper was to use flowers on a card you've entered in another challenge. Well, this one has flowers on the paper and on her cake. I think I may also use it for a few more purposes. I'm really happy with how it turned out. This Tilda with Birthday Cake is one of my newest stamps even though I think she is an older image. I picked a background paper from Sassafras Lass that had the colors red, blue, and pink in it and went from there. I found the polka dot paper in a pack I've had forever. The thing about paper piecing is you have to find paper with a small enough pattern for it to repeat in the small area you have. I was glad that all 3 of the main colors made it into the dress. I cut Tilda out with a nestabilitie and matted her on a larger one. I added a scalloped border out of core'dinations and added a bow made out of tulle. I love tulle and I bought several rolls of it thinking I would use it for something and this is the first time I've actually used it. I think it is my favorite part of the card and I will definitely start using it more often.

Octagons

What do you think of when you think of octagons? Stop signs right? They are just so frequently associated with octagons, it's hard to think of anything else. Well spellbinders has recently released octagon nestablilities. As part of our Stamping Scrapping design team duties, we were
given a set of the octagon nestabilities to see what we could come up with.

This is what I came up with. The first card used a Magnolia Tilda image (my new favorites). She is colored with copic markers. I stamped the setiment from just rite on one of the smaller octagons and matted it with one of the larger ones. The circular shape works well with the octagons. For my second card, I used the octagons for the gorguss girl and her little chick to sit on. They are both the same size, I just layered them unevenly to try and create more interest. So, what do you think, did I break the stop sign mold?

Girls Night is Just Rite

Well, the new Just Rite stamp sets have started arriving at www.stampingscrapping.com. I just received my new Girl Time set last week. These stamps are awesome for making cards or invitations for all your fabulous girlfriends. I couldn't wait to play with them!For this card, I stared with the doily card from the Cricut Wild Card cartridge. I then cut a circle from George out of patterned paper to layer over the card. The sentiment is from Just Rite. It is more hot pink in person. ( I know it looks a little red in the picture) After I stamped it, I cut it out with a circle nestabilitie and then matted it with a scalloped circle nestie out of pink cardstock. To glam up this girls night out card, I topped it with some ribbon and petaloo flowers. Now, I just need to set up a girls night out so my card won't go to waste!

So Simple, So Tweet!

Well, it's springtime even though the past couple of days have felt a lot like summer. The third challenge for Scrappy Frogs was to create a floral/spring themed project for a chance to win some really springy prizes! Here is my card for the challenge.

I just got this set of the bird nestabilities and I had to play with them. I cut the bird out of the turquoise paper and then matted it on the green floral paper. I stamped the sentiment- so tweet on yellow, cut it out with a circle nestie, and then matted it with a scalloped circle. Then I added a little sticker and some ribbon. My Sugar Sweet Paper Treat

Ok, here is my card for the first Sugar Sweet Paper Treats challenge.  Of course I chose a cupcake for the something sweet.  They're everywhere right now aren't they?  When I was looking for paper, I thought the Basic Grey Two Scoops would be perfect for something sweet and pink.  In order to fit everything on the card I decided to make my card 6 x 6. This way I 

could make the elements a little larger.  The cupcake was cut from the Home Decor cartridge.  The sentiment 2 sweet was cut from Hello Kitty font.  I also included the labels 1 nestie and some eyelet trim I picked up in the fabric department a while ago.  I hope my card isn't the dud of the group.  I really like how it turned out and I think it does look sweet.

Easter Album

This is my second round design team entry. It is a 9 x 9 accordian album from Close to My Heart. For this round we were sent supplies that had to be worked into the project. These consisted of felt shapes, cardstock, grungeboard, ribbon, and brads. For the front cover, I cut the title Easter Memories from the Pooh Font cartridge and the bunny from Doodlecharms. The next page on the inside cover I used some of the felt pieces provided and some Easter diecuts. The bunny is a sizzix die and is cut out of the

grungeboard we were given to use. I added a pompom for the tail. The buny and basket are from Stretch Your Imagination. The chicks on the bottom are another sizzix die. All the patterened paper for the project is from My Minds Eye and the cardstock is core'dinations.

I used my nestabilities to mat the photos on the egg hunt page. The grass border is cut from Paper Doll Dress Up and the eggs are from Doodlecharms. The bunny is from Stretch Your Imagination.

This next page features one of my favorite pictures ever.

I used more of the grungeboard bunnies, some petaloo flowers and made a paper doll to look the picture of Ainsleigh. For the next two pages, I decided to play around with cropping pictures to get some better shots. There was some glitter paper in with the supplies we were required to use, so I used them on the eggs. I needed the rest of my eggs to be glittery too, so I fan them through the xyron upside down and glittered them.

Now for the back cover. Since the front of the album featured a bunny face, it's only natural that the back of the album would also be the back of the bunny. I used the rest of the ribbon provided and glued on a giant pompom for the bunny tail. This was a really fun project to make and it will be hard to send it away. I will have to recreate one for myself.

New Bella Card

I don't know why I waited so long to order some bella stamps. They are so cute and I can't stop playing with them. Here is a card I made last night. This stamp is called flowahbella. I colored her with copics and used flower soft on the flowers in the flower pot. I am finally getting the hang of the flower soft. This color is called summer and it has a great mixture of pinks and greens. I used the curved rectangle nestabilities to cut out the stamped image. The background is embossed with the bloom dots cuttlebug folder, sanded and then some skittles added. I also accented little parts of her dress and the flower pot with the copic spica glitter pens. Well, this picture is bigger than I thought it would be and there is no way I can fill up all this space, so that's about all I can say about this card. Look for more Bella cards to be posted soon.

Mini Mailbox # 1

I love making these little mailboxes from Target. You can fill them with chocolate or other goodies and they are the perfect teacher or coach's gifts. This is one I made for a design team challenge. I used core'dinations cardstock on this one. I embossed it with the cuttlebug divine swirls folder and then sanded it to let the core show through. The flowers on the little flag are petaloo and the heart in the middle I found in the Valentine section of Hobby Lobby. I cut the Love from Home Accents and then stamped the words on it with a Close to My Heart stamp. The little "chocolate" heart in the middle also came from the Valentine section of Hobby Lobby. This is the end of the mailbox. I used the chocolate box core'dinations paper and embossed it with the heart block folder then sanded it to show the pink core. I cut circles with the nestabilities for the sentiment. The Eat Lots of Chocolate comes from the Just Rite Christmas set it works for Valentine's Day also! After I stamped it, I embossed it with swiss dots. Just a note, when you use only the center of the just rite stamps, I found it works best with markers instead of an ink pad. This is the other side of the mailbox- more delicious chocolate hearts. These are actually wooden and they stick to the mailbox great with a coupl of glue dots. I have a ton of these, so I should have more up soon!

More cards

I decided to get a head start on the some of the cards I need for my Cuttlebug card exchange group. Here are a few I came up with for some of our upcoming card exchanges. This is the same owl card I made down below, but I made it a little more girly. I used this one for our get in shape swap where we had to make a card in any shape other than a rectangle. The tree is the matching envelope that Wild Card cuts to go along with the owl card. I cheated a little on this one- not much cuttlebug, just the little border at the top to be the owl's tiara.

This next card is my favorite. I'm not sure which exchange I'm going to use if for or if I can even part with it. I just love it! The tree is from Wild Card and the little birds are from Home Decor. I have no idea what to use this card for, I just wanted to make it because I thought it would turn out cute.

This next card is one I am using for the fun with ink swap where we needed to use ink with our Cuttlebug folders. I inked the large houndstooth folder as well as the smaller folder with a brayer, put the paper in, and ran it through the Cuttlebug. I think it worked really well with the houndstooth folder and made the pattern stand out a little more. As you can see, I've made several cards with birds on them. There are so many cute bird items around right now, I decided to have a For the Birds swap to see what everyone could come up with. I thougth it would be fun to use the birds from Joys of the Season and make a few non Christmas cards with them. For this one, I used the 2 Turtle Doves to make a valentine's themed card. You would never know the birds came from a Chrismas cartridge, they work perfectly for Valentine's Day. I also used the partridge in a pear tree for another card. I cut the pear off the end, so I guess it's just a partridge in a tree. I used the coredinations chocolate box cardstock for the background of this card. The paper is chocolate brown, but when you sand the embossing, the light blue core shows through. Well, this is officially becoming my longest post ever, so I will finish up with one last card. This is the one I am using for the Valentine's Day swap. It features the chandelier from Home Decor. I think I will put something cheesy on the inside like You light up my life Valentine. I mounted the chandelier on a label nestabilitie die and sanded the embossing to make it stand out. The paper and ribbon are from Close to My Heart. I messed up when I cut the card base, so it opens from the side.

Just Rite Stamps

I finally got some just rite stamps and have had a lot of fun playing around with them. I got the Christmas set on Christmas eve, so I haven't made many Christmas things with it, but there was one stamp I thought I might be able to use for something else. So, I took the eat lots of chocolate stamp and used it for a Valentines card. All of the borders were too Christmasy, so I left it off and used the embossing from the nestabilitie as the border instead. When you sand the embossing, the white core really makes it more noticeable.

The next set I wanted to play with was the ovals. I got the birthday set and thought the stamp with the candles would be perfect on a card with lots of candles. Where would I find a card like that? I looked through the Wild Card manual and thought the Hanukkah card would probably work. Here is what I came up with. What do you think? Can it pass as a birthday card?The next card I made was just a fun card. I used a Stamping Bella image and colored her in with colored pencils and a little mineral spirits. I found some houndstooth ribbon that works perfectly with the houndstooth cuttlebug folder. I think I will add some of my coffee card scents to this one.
