House Mouse Easter

he current challenge on Cricutters Anonymous is to create an Easter project. I decided to cut the pillow box on the Easter 2010 solutions box and make a cute little box I can fill for treats to give to family or my daughter's teachers. I cut the box out of purple cardstock and decorated it while it was flat (this is easier than trying to decorate it after you have it put together). I colored

an adorable House Mouse image with my copic markers and put that on top of box. I welded the ric rac image that is also on the Easter cartridge and used that as a decoration along the top and bottom of the box. The box on the cartridge actually cuts a rabbit out of the center, but you could change that to any shape by welding something else with your gypsy or design studio or

just cover the cut out bunny up like I did this time. Here is what the box looks like with the bunny. I decorated this one with a border punch and some flowers and put fleece behind the bunny cut out to make him fluffy.

House Mouse- Do Anything Challenge

We have a new challenge on the House Mouse and Friends blog and it's a good one- anything goes! I decided to use a new House Mouse image I received it is actually the stamp of the month

in the Stamping Scrapping.com house mouse stamp of the month club. The name of this stamp is Bed of Flowers. These little guys look adorable sleeping on the flowers. I colored my mice with copic markers (of course) and used the new Basic Grey pack Indian Summer for my background paper. I think the colors in the paper go nicely with the colors of the flowers. So come on and hop on over the the House Mouse and Friends blog and join in the challenge with us!!!!

A New Bildmalarna Challenge

This time our Bildmalarna Challenge over on BildmalarnaBlog is to create a project with embossing and flowers. The prize will be the adorable Mimosa with chickens stamps I LOVE this one. So, I needed to make a card with embossing, flowers, and a Bildmalarna image on it. on it. I decided to use the super cute Mimosa with cupcakes stamp, always a favorite.

I thought Mimosa would need a place to buy her cupcakes, so I put her in front of a cake shop. I got this stamp from Squigglefly. It is actually a set of 6 different shops (digital). I printed it once on my neenah cardstock and once on a piece of Basic Grey pattern paper. The paper I used is from the Two Scoops pack. I cut the awnings from the pattern paper and pieced it into the stamp. The colors I used are R20 and R22, G02 and G00 and Y02. For the embossing I used my cuttlebug and a plaid folder to match the plaid in the paper. I then added my favorite new embellishment- Prima mini roses. The sentiment was stamped with just rite and then cut out with a nestabilitie.

Just Buggin- For the Ladies

Just Buggin has actually changed names and is now Cricutters Anonymous, it's gonna take me a while to get used to that, so if I may mess up for just a little while. So, this week's challenge on Cricutters Anonymous is to create a project inspired by women. I thought this was the perfect challenge to use my Forever Young cartridge, it's super girly.

I cut the dress form and shadowed it on black. I then cut the words chic, stylish, and posh also from the Forever Young cartridge. I staggered them on the card front. The paper is from Glitz and it's a whole pack of cool girly looking pink and black papers. I chose the houndstooth as the background, I love houndstooth. I added some black lace all the way around an then layered a string of pearl beads on top of that. In the upper corner I added a big black tulle bow. I find that some of my favorite embellishments come from the fabric section of the craft store and not the scrapbooking section (they're usually cheaper over there too). So that is my girly cricut project and I have to say this one was a lot easier than the boy/man one last week!!!

Magnolia Stamp Lovers- Die Cuts challenge

First of all, I would like to say Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!!! Now, unfortunately the card I'm posting today for the Magnolia Stamp Lovers challenge does not really have any green in it. I'm sorry about that, but I do love this card. The current Magnolia Stamp Lovers challenge is to use die cuts with your Magnolia Stamps. When you play along with us, you have a chance to win the adorable new stamp Wedding Couple A. I decided to make a tent card. This is a cool kind of

card I was unfamiliar with until recently. You start with 2 pieces of 6 x 6 cardstock then layer them with decorative paper. Then you take your nestabilitie or other die cut and cut a shape out of one of the pieces of covered cardstock. I used Labels 4 for this card. Now you can color your image I chose the adorable new Jolly Roger Tilda. She's so cute she can't be kept in stock and is now on pre-order. I colored her with my copic markers. The colors I used on her clothes were RV 14, RV 13, BG 10 and BG 13. After I had Tilda all colored, I poked a small hole in her head and a small hole right above the cut out shape and put jump rings in each hole. The I took a small piece of floss and tied the jump ring on Tilda to the jump ring on the card letting her dangle a little bit. Now to assemble the card you need another piece of 4 x 6 cardstock that you score and 1, 2, and 3 inches then accordion fold. Attach the one end to the front piece of your decorative cardstock and the other to the back piece. Then you attach at the top however you prefer, I used pearl brads to hold mine together. Then I finished decorating my card front with lace, tulle, and a paper rose. I chalked it with black chalk to grunge it up a bit. Then I took 2 Making Memories deco pins and stuck them through to mimic the crossbones on the paper. I also randomly added some small rhinestones for excitement.

Some Fun Projects

This is a busy week for me with design team projects. It was my turn to make a project for Cindy at Stamping Scrapping and also the week the challenge changed at Scrappy Frogs. For my Stamping Scrapping project, I decided to use some of the adorable new spring CC Designs

stamps that just came in. I used Cherry Emma and the bench to make this project. The paper isBasic Grey Lemonade. I used the Martha Stewart double loop punch around the page for a decorative mat for the image. The sentiment is from label accents of course, and I finished the card off with some Prima and Magnolia paper roses.

Now on to Scrappy Frogs. Our challenge was to stamp on something other than paper. I decided to give shrinky dinks a try. Now, to stamp on shrinky dinks, it is best to get the kind that are frosted on one side. When you stamp and color on them, stamp on the frosted side. I had intended to use my copics, but the memento ink smeared on the shrinky dink material, so I used colored pencils instead. I stamped my images and colored them with the pencils, then I cut around them . It is important to remember to punch the hole before you shrink them. The hole will shrink too, so don't punch it too small.
Then, heat them with a heat gun until they finish shrinking. They will curl up on each other while you are shrinking them, that is normal. I try to hold them in place by putting something like a paper piercer through the hole to hold them a little more still while I shrink them. Here is a close up of the charms before I put them on the bracelet.

And this is what the finished product looked like after I added the jump rings and added them to the bracelet. This is a perfect way to make charms to add to jewelry or even to use on your cards.

Fairytale Tilda

I just love the new Tildas that have come out- magic, princesses, pirates, who could ask for more? I made this adorable little card with the new Fairytale Tilda. It is my entry in the Friday sketchers sketch challenge for this week. I colored this adorable little Tilda with my copic

markers. Her dress is a combination of R20, R22, and R24. The frog is YG03 and YG06. Her hair is YR23, Y21, and Y17 and her skin is E000, E02, YR000 and R20. To give her some more sparkle I painted her wings with Shimmerz pixie dust and added a little of my atyou spicas to the flowers in her hair and on the ground. I also added some roses (prima and magnolia) and blinged them up with some diamond stickles their branches (Martha Stewart punch) were cut out of green shimmer paper.

Just Buggin Go Green

This week our challenge was to create something green for St. Patrick's Day. I thought I would try and use one of the adorable princesses found on the Once Upon a Princess cartridge and turn her into some kind of St. Patrick's Day Fairy (those exist don't they?). I just a pack of some cool shimmer paper from Die cuts with a view and that is what I used for all of the princess (fairy)

except her skin. I put a shamrock on her wand and added a shamrock hat from Designers Calendar. The card base is cut from A Child's Year (this cartridge is full of fun card bases for all occasions) and I used the Bazzil swiss dots cardstock for that and put some more of the green shimmer paper behind the shamrock cut outs. I gave the princess some wiggly eyes, with eyelashes of course, and stamped a nose and mouth from my peach keen face sets. We would love to see your St. Patty's Day creations, so head on over to Just Buggin and show us what you come up with.

Magnolia Stamp Lovers- Pink and Chocolate

The current challenge on Magnolia Stamp Lovers is to create a project with the color scheme of Pink and Chocolate. These two colors are perfect together and one of my personal favorite

combinations. I decided to use Noble Tilda for this card. I have colored her with my copic markers and sat her on the Tea Cup from the A Little Yummy for Your Tummy collection. I paper pieced some of the Basic Grey background paper on the tea cup. The paper is Porcelain from Basic Grey. The sentiment comes from the Scent with Love stamp set How Ya Bean. To finish it all off, I added a couple of Petaloo flowers and a dab of the delicously yummy card scent chai tea which smells as good as the ones from Starbucks!

We would love for you to play along with challenge for the chance to win an issue of the Magnolia Ink magazine. It is full of wonderful pictures and ideas.

Adorable new Magnolia stamps

Cindy at Stamping Scrapping.com just received a 76 pound order of Magnolia stamps today. I guess they never got my email changing the ship to address to my house LOL. Anyway, these new stamps are super cute!!!! There are pirate stamps, wedding stamps, fairytale princesses, magic wizards, and more. I have never seen so many cute ones at one time!!!! Get them while you can. They will ship next day!!!!

Bildmalarna Challenge 4

Our current Bildmalarna challenge is to use the color combination of green, yellow, and brown. Well, I have some new paper from Basic Grey called Origins that was just begging to be used for this challenge. The image I used this time is the adorable little stamp called Mimosa Cafe. She looks so cute sitting drinking a coffee and daydreaming. I colored Mimosa with my copic markers. The greens are G14 and G16, the yellow is Y04 and Y02, the browns are E37 and E 35. Her hair is E09, and E07, for her skin I used E02, YR000, E000 and R20 for her cheeks. I paper pieced her dress with a piece of the paper I used for the background. The flowers are white silk

flowers from the craft store pulled off their stems, put back together with a brad, and sprayed with green glimmer mist. I then punched some leaves out of the brown craft paper and the dark green paper from the Origins pack. Next I added the sentiment miss you a latte and cut it out with my labels 2 nestie. The sentiment is from the stamp set Java Happy Day. To finish the card off, I added some ribbon and a bow. Now, you may be saying to yourself, "wow that bow looks great!". That is because I have found my favorite new product in a long long time, the Bow Easy. This little guy is AWESOME. It enables you to tie perfect bows every time. You can tie several different sizes and you can add as many loops as you would like . I made a 2 loop bow for this card. Now the best part- it is only $4.99!!!!! Finally, I think I may start to make a dent in the ridiculous amount of ribbon I have.

Please join us in the Bildmalarna challenge over on the Bildmalarna Blog and you could win the adorable new Easter Bunny stamp!!! It's a cute one!!!

Just Buggin Card Challenge

The challenge this week on Just Buggin is to use the creative card feature that is available on many cartridges. Many cartridges have this feature the allows you to cut a card with an image cut out of the middle. I always seem to forget about this, but it is a great way to make a quick and easy card. I used the card feature on Life's a Beach to cut this card with the whale image in

the middle of it. I always associate whales with pink and green probably from my middle school preppy days, so that's the color scheme I used on this card. I cut the card twice and then cut the whale part out of the second card and layered it on top of the first one. The sentiment get whale soon was cut from Don Juan and welded together. I also gave the whale a little band aid that I cut from the Indie Art cartridge. I finished it off with some pink and white ribbon and a little rose. We would love to see what you do with the card feature on your cartridges, so come on over to Just Buggin and play along with us.
